Draft the weekly client update from last week's notes
Monday's client update is not a creativity contest. It is the same outline, new facts. The hour disappears when you invent structure every week instead of filling a known pack.
Monday's client update is not a creativity contest. It is the same outline, new facts. The hour disappears when you invent structure every week instead of filling a known pack.
This hack: twenty minutes, last week's notes and numbers only, draft the update. Edit later if you must. Ship a draft before you polish commas.
When to use it
- You already send a weekly or biweekly client update.
- Notes, tickets, or a metrics sheet from last week exist.
- You have twenty minutes before the send window.
When not to
- There is no repeating outline yet. Sketch five headings first, then come back.
- Numbers disagree across tools and you don't know which is true. Fix source of truth first.
- The client expects a custom strategy memo. That's a different job.
Do this (timer on)
- 1. Open last week's finished update (or your fixed outline).
- 2. Paste this week's raw notes/metrics under the same headings.
- 3. Run the prompt for a first draft in that outline.
- 4. Add the two sentences only you would know (exceptions, risks).
- 5. Save as draft. Do not chase perfect prose in this block.
Prompt (copy)
Draft a weekly client update for a US service business.
Use ONLY the outline and inputs below. Plain English. No hype.
Sections must match the outline exactly.
For each section: 2-4 short bullets or 1 short paragraph.
Flag anything missing as [NEED INPUT] instead of inventing.
OUTLINE:
[paste your usual headings]
LAST WEEK'S INPUTS:
[paste notes, metrics, ticket themes]
TONE:
Competent operator. No "thrilled to announce." No invented ROI %.
Decent outline (if you need one)
- 1. What shipped
- 2. What moved in metrics (facts only)
- 3. Risks / blockers
- 4. Asks for the client
- 5. Next week focus
After you send
