Sort this week's receipts into bookkeeper buckets
Receipts pile up because sorting feels like accounting. It isn't. It is labeling into buckets your bookkeeper already uses.
Receipts pile up because sorting feels like accounting. It isn't. It is labeling into buckets your bookkeeper already uses.
This hack: twelve minutes, this week's dump, categorize. Reconcile later. Sort now.
When to use it
- You have a pile of receipts or a card export from this week.
- Your bookkeeper (or you) already has category names.
- You can spare twelve minutes before month-end panic.
When not to
- You don't know the chart of accounts. Ask for the bucket list first.
- This is tax strategy. That's an accountant job.
- Receipts are missing and you need to hunt vendors. Different block.
Do this (timer on)
- 1. Export or photograph this week's expenses.
- 2. Paste lines into a sheet with: date, vendor, amount, bucket, note.
- 3. Use the prompt to suggest buckets from your list only.
- 4. Fix misfires by hand. Send the sheet to bookkeeping inbox.
Prompt (copy)
Categorize these expenses using ONLY my bucket list.
Output a table: date | vendor | amount | bucket | confidence (high/med/low) | note
If unsure, bucket = NEEDS REVIEW.
Do not invent vendors or amounts.
