Publish who owns what during someone's PTO
PTO without named coverage creates quiet failures. Names on work - not vibes.
PTO without named coverage creates quiet failures. Names on work - not vibes.
This hack: ten minutes, publish who owns what while someone is out. Distinct from your own OOO pack: this is for covering a teammate.
When to use it
- A teammate's PTO is on the calendar.
- Work they own will continue.
- You can confirm coverage owners.
When not to
- Coverage isn't staffed. Escalate; don't publish fiction.
- The person wanted privacy on reason. Share dates/coverage only.
- You're not the manager/ops owner. Offer a draft to them.
Do this (timer on)
- 1. List their recurring owned workflows.
- 2. Assign coverage names.
- 3. Post to the team channel + update calendars.
Shape
PTO coverage - [Name] ([dates]) | Workflow | Coverage | Notes / doc link | |----------|----------|------------------| | [Client A] | [Name] | [link] | | [Inbox VIP] | [Name] | [rules] |
Escalation if coverage blocked: [manager].
After you send
If every PTO surprises the team, ops admin lacks a coverage ritual. Operations Efficiency when absences always break work.
