Build tomorrow's 1:1 agenda from goals plus last notes
1:1s default to status theater. Goals first, status last.
1:1s default to status theater. Goals first, status last.
This hack: ten minutes, tomorrow's 1:1 agenda from goals + last notes.
When to use it
- A 1:1 is tomorrow.
- You have goals and prior notes.
- You want a useful conversation, not a status dump.
When not to
- It's an emergency performance conversation. Prepare differently with HR norms.
- You have neither goals nor notes. Write one goal first.
- The other person owns the agenda by agreement. Offer inputs; don't hijack.
Do this (timer on)
- 1. Paste goals + last 1:1 notes.
- 2. Draft agenda: goals progress, blockers, career/growth, decisions, quick status.
- 3. Send agenda ahead.
Prompt (copy)

Order: goals → blockers → growth → decisions → brief status
Include 1-2 suggested questions per section.
